Endowment Information
Established in 1983 with a bequest and the sale of a two-flat in Andersonville, the Ebenezer Endowment fund is designed to help provide the financial stability necessary for Ebenezer to achieve its mission. Ebenezer’s Endowment Grant Program has funded a variety of non-profits serving the Chicago area. Endowment funds have seeded new ministries within the church, made capital investments in the church’s facility and supports the operating budget when needed.
Contribute
There are multiple funds within the Endowment including the music ministry, scholarship program, emergency repair program, enrichment operating budget support, and the primary endowment fund. You can make a gift to the endowment by check at any time, transfer of stock, or designate Ebenezer Lutheran Church in your estate planning.
Estate Planning
We encourage you to discuss estate planning with your family and we strongly recommend drafting a will. We urge you to seek legal advice or other expert assistance and always consult advisors you trust. When you are planning and drafting a will, and you wish to include Ebenezer Lutheran Church, we are happy to provide a list of “sample text” for making a gift to Ebenezer Lutheran Church.

Ebenezer Endowment Grant Program
Ebenezer’s Endowment Committee is pleased to invite applications for grants to support ministry and social justice work in the Ebenezer congregation and broader community. Past grants have supported projects which include:
The ELCA Youth Gathering.
Tutoring program activities.
Core Ebenezer programs through the Enrichment Fund.
Ebenezer’s Social Justice and Property Committee’s mission.
Community programs – including CARE FOR REAL, Night Ministry, Extraordinary Lutheran Ministries, Lawrence Hall Youth Services, Institute of Cultural Affairs, Howard Brown Health Center, Chicago House, Jane Addams Senior Caucus, Concordia House, Still Point Theatre Collective, Ravenswood Community Center and Carlson Community Services
We encourage all Ebenezer Committees to review their mission and objectives to see if an Endowment Grant might help support a project that might otherwise have to be delayed or dropped.
