2022 Sunergos Award - Miss Vi

A big congrats to
Miss Vi Collins-Brown,
the 2022 recipient of the Sunergos Award for Synodical Service
at the ELCA Metro-Chicago Synod Assembly last weekend!

Miss Vi Collins-Brown receives 2022 Sunergos Award

Sunergos is a Greek word that means “a companion in work” or “fellow worker.” The award was established by the synod council in May 2000 to “celebrate the gift of lay servants of our synod who give so much to the life of the church.”

At the Synod Assembly, Miss Vi was honored for her commitment as a volunteer, leader, and mentor for the E.C.T. Youth Group for the past five years, for offering her beautiful singing voice and musical direction, and for her commitment to service in the ELCA Metro-Chicago Synod and the greater community of Chicago.

Some of her incredible work includes writing proposals with the “Intelligents” Organization to raise money for fun and educational outings for Youth in the Cabrini Green area and serving as the Director of Administration and Finance for Lutheran Family Mission. While at Holy Family Lutheran, she founded the three-part harmony choir for Holy Family Lutheran School and classical Praise Dance group. Both groups have participated at Synod Assemblies. She has volunteered with LYO (Lutheran Youth Organization) and the Near North Unity Programs in Education and Community Development and has served for 15 years on the ELCA Worship and Liturgy Committee. She's been an educator and counselor for almost three decades. She taught at Holy Family Lutheran school for ten years and has mentored interim teachers. She continues to do International and National on-line instruction for students preparing for graduation and college.

We are truly grateful for all that Miss Vi offers our church, community, and synod.  Well done, good and faithful servant!
