Covid-19 Booster Shots

The most important covid vaccinations yet to be given are those for individuals who have not yet received the vaccine. Efforts continue in this area. Those vaccinated individuals who are interested in increasing their immunity to the virus may now get a booster shot if they fit the following criteria:

People who received 2 doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine at least 6 months ago AND are either

65 years old or older, or

18 + and live in long-term care settings, or

18 + and have certain underlying health conditions, or

18 + and live or work in high risk settings.

People 18 years old and older who got the Johnson & Johnson vaccine 2 or more months ago are recommended to get a booster shot.

Individuals may choose which vaccine they get as their booster. Mixing and matching of vaccines is allowed. Or just get the type of vaccine most available to you. Any will provide you with additional protection.

For more information about booster shots see the CDC’s statement from 10-21-21: https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/p1021-covid-booster.html
